Internet telephony is the use of the Internet rather than the traditional telephone company infrastructure and rate structure to exchange spoken or other telephone information. Since access to the Internet is available at local phone connection rates, an international or other long-distance call will be much less expensive than through the traditional call arrangement.

1. Microsoft NetMeeting* Version: 3.01B3396 (with Service Pack 2; 1.6mb; Win95/98/NT/2000 (Nov 9, 2002) Freeware, enables real-time voice and data communications over the Internet. This includes the ability for two or more people to share applications, transfer files, view and illustrate a shared whiteboard, and chat all over standard connections. Can also be used between two users.

2. WebPhone* Version: 4.02; 3.2mb; Win95/98/NT (Nov 1, 1999)
Shareware, voice talk over internet, similar to the Internet Phone, but has point to point connections using either IP address or E-Mail address - Homepage.

3. Internet Phone* Version: 5.01(Build 200); 8.9mb; Win95 (Aug 26, 1999).
Shareware, impressive live conversion over internet! Featuring voice mail, whiteboarding and document sharing, all the amenities of a full-featured phone like call waiting - Homepage.

4. Various other Internet Telephony software: Win95/NT, Win31, Mac, OS/2, Unix.
